In this baroque piece the author shows a hunting scene, dominated by the landscape and by the dynamism generated by the figures portrayed in the scene. Located both on the left and on the right, some aligned trees mark the development in depth of the landscape, which is cleared in the centre of the scene. The animals are not located in the centre of the scene, as they move slightly to the left. The painter is rooted in the long Baroque pictorial tradition, with a realistic representation that slightly idealises nature in order to show its most expressive side. The technique is light and detailed, with free brushstrokes full of matter. The colour range is dominated by warm tones, with reddish and ochre tones with the greys and greens of the trees.
The non-transcendental subject matter would have been a common choice for the period, although it is likely to have reflected a particular hunt or a specific moment chosen by the painting's possible original commissioner.
