Description
At first glance, we assume these are from France.
1) Statue of male courting female. Text at the bottom in cursive: "Paul & Virginia." Stamped into the plate at left: "PETERS" and on the right: "394 B'WAY N.Y."
2) Statue of king on horseback. Since they're both packaged the same way, it's a likely assumption that this one is also stamped "PETERS." However, note that we cannot guarantee this.
Craig's Daguerreian Registry, by John Craig, has the following on Otis T. Peters: "From 1852 to 1856 he was listed at 394 Broadway, New York City... Peters reportedly introduced the stereoscope to New York City just prior to October 1852; it was reported later that his gallery was the only place where stereoscopic portraits were correctly made."
