Utagawa Kuniyoshi (Japanese, 1798 - 1861) rare Ukiyo-e woodblock print depicting a heroine, Tomoe Gozen, holding a naginata (pole weapon), from the artist's series, Stories of 100 heroes. Tomoe Gozen was a famous 12th-century samurai known for her beauty and strength. Framed. Inscribed in pencil, on verso.
