A GROUP OF THREE MAHONGWE COPPER AND METAL COVERED WOOD RELIQUARY FIGURES, GABON, 19TH/20TH CENTURY, comprising one with rounded concave body centering a vertical panel with impressed lozenge pattern above two circular domed eyes (one lacking) and a short beak nose, flanked by narrow angled copper strip sides and surmounted by a matching strips wrapped finial, raised on a similarly bound neck on a carved wood stem and mounted on a rectangular black painted wood base, height: 21", width: 7 3/8", depth: 4 1/2"; together with one of black tinted metal covered wood in shallow spade form and a raised border enclosing a vertical panel impressed with stacked horizontal lines, centering circular domed eyes above a narrow nose and flanked by wide blackened metal strips, surmounted by a similarly wrapped finial and raised on a carved wood stem with a rope bound neck, height: 19 1/2", width: 6", depth: 3 1/4"; one of dark green patinated copper bands on wood and of spade leaf form with a slightly raised border centering a vertical strip with rows of short vertically cut lines, enclosing circular domed eyes with a short narrow nose flanked by broad brass bands and raised on a single band strapped collar on a carved wood stem, verdis gris patination throughout, height: 19", width: 7 3/4", depth: 3 1/2".   Provenance: Estate of Ross Gibson Wandrey, Houston, Texas
