Description
A CHINESE FAMILLE VERTE LOTUS, INSECTS AND BIRDS ENAMELED PORCELAIN DISH, QING DYNASTY (1644-1912), attributed to the Kangxi (1662-1722) period, the overall barbed petal form is painted with individual petal plaques with ruyi mushroom and jade bangle enclosed by thin fretwork lines, the reserves filled with descending birds and insects over flowering branches and rocks, centering a landscape scene of knotty flowering branches and a blue and pale celadon rock, the reverse with a band of undulating, flowering tendrils, raised on a foot centering a two-character underglaze square seal mark and double blue rings. Condition
Expected surface wear throughout, some scratches and losses of enamel, later gilt applied to flower at center, fading of enamel, some chips at peaks of petals, overall in good condition, wear commensurate with age.
