The Meiping vase with lid first appeared in the Tang Dynasty and was more popular during the Song and Liao Dynasty. Xu Zhiheng described in detail the shape, characteristics and name origin of the plum bottle in his book "Yin Liu Zhai Shuo Porcelain". The mouth of the plum bottle is thin and the neck is short. The shoulders are wide and narrow, and the neck is slightly narrow, reaching the slight abundance of the feet. The small caliber is only commensurate with the thin bones of the plum, hence the name plum bottle.
