QUEEN ANNE STYLE BURL WALNUT & MAHOGANY HIGHBOY, C. 1770 WITH LATER MODIFICATIONS, H 67", W 45":D 20"' Top section having three full width drawers and 2 half width drawers; bottom section having one long drawer flanked by 2 small square drawers all with brass batwing bail handles; satinwood ''feather' motif banding around the drawers; burl walnut veneer; the whole raised on cabriole legs; 4 horizontal board period back. Purchased from the Golden Egg, Essex, MA (an antique shop, now out of business). As is.
Condition
AS IS CONDITION. The 2 detached back legs have now been reset; modification of the location where the top sits on the bottom section; much cracking and lifting up of the veneer; worm holes; many cracks including a large vertical crack on the left side panel; back boards lifting up; brasses for the 2 half with drawers are replacements for what was originally there; horizontal cornice possibly replaced; legs appear to be replaced; other restorations, losses, replacements and possible marriages.
