Description
A lot of 3 ancient decorative elements. Lot includes a Near Eastern bronze finial in the form of a feline, c. 1000 - 800 BC, in nice style, L: 1 5/8 in (4.2 cm); The second is a Graeco-Roman bronze face of Bes, Egypt, c. 2nd Century BC - 2nd Century AD, probably from the base of a vessel's handle, 1 3/4 x 1 3/4 in (4.4 x 4.4 cm); The last is a Roman decorative element with a female head, c. 1st - 4th Century AD, fashioned in a white metal, the woman's head nicely detailed with hair styled into a plait at the back of her head. The bust is strung on a heavy iron wire with two 'beads' in the same white metal above, the end of the wire emerging on wither end. L: 1 7/8 in (4.7 cm). An interesting piece which perhaps was the body of an ornate brooch or similar. Ex collection of Peter Cheremisinoff, NJ.
