Doloy kapital, da zdravstvuyet mirovaya diktatura proletariata! [Down With the Capital, Long Live the Dictatorship of the Proletariat], a poster by Dmitry Mel'nikov (1899-1962). Published by GIZ, Moscow, 1920, 101 x 67.5 cm.
Between 1919 and 1922, Dmitry Mel'nikov had produced several posters for GIZ and for Litizdat PUR. This is probably the best-known Mel'nikov work of the period; it appears in The Bolshevik Poster.
Mel'nikov continued to produce posters for many years; this included work for TASS Windows during WWII. He was also active as a caricaturist: in the 1920s, his works regularly appeared in Krokodil, and from 1943 to 1945, he was the staff caricaturist of the main Soviet newspaper, Pravda.
