32 pieces Kentucky coin silver and sterling flatware, most marked for Chauncey P. Barnes of Louisville (working 1864-1892) and his brother, Joseph (working in partnership in Louisville, c. 1870-1880). Includes 5 coin silver tablespoons and 1 teaspoon with incuse marks C.P. BARNES LOUSIVILLE (tablespoons monogrammed WHEAT), plus 1 teaspoon marked only C.P. BARNES, all with fiddle tipt handles. Pieces with incuse marks C.P. Barnes & Bro. include 1 pie server with engraved blade and anthemion handle, additionally marked sterling, along with 2 tablespoons, 1 dessert spoon, and 20 teaspoons, all with fiddle tipt handles. 9 of the teaspoons are stamped with additional Whiting hallmarks and the word COIN. This lot also includes 1 unmarked master butter knife with engraved Greek Revival decoration. Sterling pie server: 1.72 oz troy. Other pieces: combined weight: 23.72 oz troy. Provenance: The Estate of Cora Jane Spiller, Bowling Green, KY.
Condition
Pie server has slightly bent handle. Tablespoons and dessert spoon with slightly worn monograms, otherwise excellent. Knife with some overall wear. Teaspoons with wear to ends, scattered dents to some bowls. Two teaspoons have 1/4' tears to bowls, and 4 teaspoons have repairs at joint of stem and bowl. Most pieces monogrammed.
