FRANK EARLE SCHOONOVER (AMERICAN, 1877-1972) OIL ON CANVAS, 1924, H 16.25", W 35", "THE WITCH MEN OF BIZY" A prolific member of the Brandywine School, American illustrator Frank Earle Schoonover contributed more than 5,000 adventure paintings to magazines during the "Golden Age of Illustration." The location of this painting has been unknown until recently discovered at an estate sale in the South Eastern Michigan area.Artist's signature and date to the lower left. Label to verso reads: "Heading for - "The Witch Men of Bizy" - no. 1311 - July - 1924 "Showing it tous (?) Mitch Meer." Having canvas number 1311 and date July 1924 to stretcher.
