Description
Early Edo Katana, signed Fujiwara Kagehira on the tang, the other side of the tang inscribed 'Mitsu Dou Dotan-iri' (cuts 3 bodies in box in one strike). Kashu Kanewaka School blade by Fujiwara Kagehira, Ko-midare hamon, masame hada. Metal over wood kai-gunto saya, bronze floral menuki, ray skin grip, later habaki, bronze tsuba, fuchi and kashira, kashira with Toyotomi kamon.
Dimensions are: Overall, 39 7/8 inches long, 101.3 cm. Blade, 35 1/4 inches, 89.5 cm. Nagasa, 27 1/2 inches, 69.9 cm cm. Nakago, 8 1/8 inches, 20.6 cm. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: Blade with two nicks on mono-uchi. Tsuka missing mekugi. Saya with surface wear, loss to finish.
