A very fine pair of carved oak interior columns. Originally installed in Cornelius Vanderbilt II Fifth Avenue Mansion circa 1880 Each column having extensive relief carving including scrolls, serpents, horns of plenty, figures, and Vanderbilt family crest. One column with classical woman and children, the other with whippets. The columns were designed by Saint Gaudens for Vanderbilt's 5th Avenue mansion "The Daytonian". They are signed by the carver, Giovinetta Bellezza.
