Description
Scarce two-page, hand-colored map of Indian Territory and Northern Texas from the very early and scarce 1882 Cram’s Unrivaled Family Atlas of the World. All Cram atlases prior to 1883 are extremely scarce. They are the only ones that feature hand coloring—after this date all Cram atlas maps were produced with printed color. “New Railroad and County Map of Indian Territory and Northern Part of Texas.” Shows locations of numerous Native American nations and tribes. Depicts all railroad routes, including proposed ones. Wide margins and lovely pastel hand color. Atlas published 1882 by Henry S. Stebbins. This map rarely shows up on the market. Extremely clean with just one tiny and light brown spot at bottom of centerfold. Absolutely no toning at centerfold, which is unusual for these older two-page maps. A beautiful example of a map that is rarely available. 11.5 x 17.75.
