Description
A Roman silver ring with carnelian ring stone, c. 2nd - 3rd Century AD, the translucent orange stone bearing the image of seated figure, possibly Herakles holding apple, lion's skin and club. The silver ring is well preserved and the intaglio, although with some minor damage, has been reset into the ancient ring. 2.8 x 2.3 x 1.6 mm. Ex UK private collection, acquired in Germany in the 1990's.
