Description
A nice 19th Century bronze plaque depicting the Roman emperor Vespasian (AD 69 - 79). An attractive piece bordered by a raised rim; the emperor depicted in profile with his name stamped below. The X below the name indicated this was part of a set depicting each of the 12 Caesars, Vespasian being the 10th Caesar in Suetonius' famous work. 2 3/4 x 2 1/4 in (6.9 x 5.7 cm). Light wear and nicely patinated.
