Backus, Albert Ernest "Beanie" (January 3, 1906 – June 6, 1990) Indian River School - Florida Artist Painting. Founder of the Highwaymen movement. Oil on Canvas- signed lower right. Florida wetland scene. Lushcabbage palms and loblolly pines. Rich in its capture of the ever vanishing natural flora and fauna of the Florida wilderness. Canvas measures 24x36 framed to overall size of 28x40. Albert Ernest Backus was a largely self-taught artist from Fort Pierce, Florida who created the Highwaymen movement - capturing the images of the timeless beautyof the Florida landscape.
Condition: Very Fine. Canvas should be re-stretched.
