Description
[Mulock (Dinah M.) afterwards Craik], and others. The Charm of Interesting Stories,136 wood-engraved illustrations after L. Richter, R. Reinick, Count Pocci, Henry Warren, and others, 24 printed as plates, two repeated as frontispiece and title vignette, inscription on endleaf dated 1858, original embossed cloth gilt, 8vo, Addey & Co., [1853].
***This rare title appears to be formed from a run of monthly magazines edited by Joseph Cundall, with one issue towards the end reporting on the funeral of the Duke of Wellington. From the large proportion of German illustrators one would assume that much of the literary content was taken from German sources as well as English writers such as Lydia Falconer Miller "Mrs. Harriet Myrtle", and others. According to an advertisement at the end the contents could also be purchased as four separate volumes, one of which was composed entirely of Dinah Mulock's serialised story "The Little Lychetts", one of her earliest works..
