Simon Alexandre Toudouze is the son of the landscape painter Jean Marie Émile Toudouze. In addition to his father's painting training, he was also a student of the painter Adolphe Monticelli.He found the diverse motifs of his paintings within France, especially in Brittany and Savoy, as well as on his travels through Belgium, Holland, England, Germany and Italy.
He was a member of the Paris-based Société des Artistes Français and took part in their salon several times.
In 1892 he had the so-called "Villa Raphaël" built in Aix-les-Bains and lived there with his wife until his death.
