Description
1978 World Series Game Six First Pitch Baseball Thrown by Duke Snider. Just short of 56,000 fans packed Dodger Stadium on October 17, 1978 with the hope that their hometown club could extend the Series to a dramatic seventh game, but Yankees Hall of Famers Catfish Hunter and Reggie Jackson efficiently crushed those hopes, taking a second inning lead they would never relinquish. The veteran of five World Series meetings with the New York Yankees, Duke Snider was tapped to throw out the first pitch of what would prove to be the final game of the 1978 season, and we present that Official World Series ball here. The side panel is inscribed and signed in Snider's 9+/10 black ink: "First ball 1978 World Series thrown by me to Joe Ferguson--Dodgers - Yanks 6th game, [signed] Duke Snider." What Yankees fan could have dreamed that the longest World Championship drought in franchise history since their first in 1923 was just beginning? Pre-certified by PSA/DNA (autograph). Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication (autograph).
