Description
SERGEI ZELIKSON (RUSSIAN 1890-1966), “La Tentation”, gilt patinated bronze, 24 cm. (9 ½ in.), signed and titled 'S. Zelikson La Tentation' on base. Born in Russia in 1890, Sergei Zalikson moved to Paris in 1914 to further his artistic education. After studying at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Zalikson rented out Auguste Rodin's former studio at 5 rue Larray. From the 1920s on, Zalikson participated in a variety of exhibitions in France and abroad, including London's Whitechapel gallery, where his work was featured in the 1921 exhibition of Russian art.
