The field centre engraved with an impaled coat of arms in a circular cartouche within baroque style scrolls reserved with fish scales. The reverse engraved with a presentation inscription reading “Presented to Capt Portal 17th Lancers on his marriage April 12th 1899 by the servants at Malshanger. Fully marked to the reverse.
