Description
A Victorian sterling silver ecclesiastical flagon, London 1873 by John, Edward, Walter & John Barnard, overstruck by Elkington & Co Of baluster form upon a spreading hexafoil foot, the spout opposite an angular section with cartouche junctions leading to a hinged truncated conical lid surmounted by an open work finial. The lower section of body with finely engraved oak leaves and stylised daffodils against a tessellated striated ground. Fully marked underneath and overstruck, part-marked to lid, also struck with numerals underneath 50. Height – 35.1 cm / 13.8 inches Weight – 958 grams / 30.8 ozt
