Mesopotamia, Sumeria, Ca 2300 BC. A fine example of one of the earliest written receipts ever created. Biscuit form written on each side in ancient Sumerian text, most likely describing the purchase of livestock or grain. Measures 45mm x 41mm x 19mm.
Provenance: Ex Charles Ede Gallery, London, acquired in 1981 and coming in personalized Charles Ede gift box.
