Title: Six Pairs of Special Effects Contact Lenses (12 total) from the First X-MEN Movie
Place Published:
Publisher:[Marvel / 20th Century Fox]
Date Published: 2000
Description:
Six pairs of special effects contact lenses (12 lenses total). Stored in solution in 12 small vials. Excellent condition.
Lot comprises two pairs of contact lenses for Ray Park's "Toad" character; one pair of lenses for Rebecca Romjin-Stamos's "Mystique" character; one pair of contacts for stuntman Troy Brenna's "Sabretooth" character, and two pairs of lenses for Tyler Mane's "Sabretooth" character.
20th Century Fox's first X-Men movie, directed by Brian Singer, was a huge smash, anticipating Marvel Studios' march towards total Hollywood hegemony. These twelve contact lenses are among the few tangible Marvel movie props demonstrating the characters' super powers, as most onscreen super-powered manifestations are created with digital, rather than practical, effects. In a sense, these contact lenses are emblematic of the "vision" that launched and sustained Marvel's ongoing cinematic revolution.
