Jean-Louis Gregoire (1840-1890, France) Bronze Titled "Zephyre & Psyche". The scene depicts Zephyre, the god of the west wind, carrying Psyche off the mountaintop to Cupid's palace; she holds an oil lamp in her right hand, presumably to use to look upon the face of cupid in the night. Signed on the bronze L. Gregoire, and inscribed in gold on a black and rouge marble platform Zephyre & Psyche; Stands on a carved green marble pedestal with lions heads holding cornucopias of fruit in their mouths. Green pedestal is 39 in. high, bronze and rouge base stands 44 in. high. Total height 83".
