Early impressions from the edition issued by Mrs Jane Hogarth c.1781, before the later reprinted editions by Boydell and Heath. With the publication line: 'Design'd and etched by Wm Hogarth. Published according to Act of Parliament March 8th 1756.' Ref: Paulson 202 and 203, both third and final states. Prov: William Henry Smith, Viscount Hambledon. Fine strong impressions. On pale cream 18th century laid paper. Generally excellent condition; very slight soiling of paper surface. Margins: 2-4ins. Sheets: 17 1/8 x 23 3/8 ins. Plate: 12 3/8 x 15 1/8 ins (315x385mm)."
