Hezekiah Butterworth was an American author who is best remembered for his enormous, seventeen volume work Zig-Zag Journeys. These volumes were written as travel guides and educational works from his travels in Europe, South America, and Canada. They were very popular throughout the United States, especially among young readers.
This volume, Zigzag Journeys in the Great Northwest, is the 12th in the series and was written after a journey over the Canadian Pacific Railroad to Vancouver with stories and legends of places along the way including:
Legends of the Puget Sound
DuLuth and the Jesuits Sun-glass
The Indian Potlatch
And many more!
The Zig Zag series was printed in 8 different formats over the years. This 1890 edition is in the first format of binding with brown cloth, gold gilt lettering and pictures on the front cover and includes over 100 illustrations!
