Housman and author Clemence Housman achieving critical and literary acclaim throughout their respective careers. Laurence’s output trended towards more populist subjects, with his 1934 play Victoria Regina becoming one of his most-staged plays of the pre-war era; its Broadway debut starred stage legend Helen Hayes and a newcomer to the American theatre by the name of Vincent Price.
