Description
1st-2nd century AD. A bronze pendant composed of a central phallus, one arm styled as an erect phallus, the other as a hand held in the fica gesture, the finger detailing continued on the reverse of the pendant; suspension loop above. Cf. The Metropolitan Museum, accession number 60.117.7, for similar. 11.5 grams, 46mm (1 3/4"). Property of an Essex gentleman; acquired on the UK art market; previously from an old English collection formed in the 1980s.
