17th-18th century AD. A discoid bronze mount modelled as a flower head, possibly a rose, petals expressed as circumferential pellets and lobes in relief, central dome with pellet-style florets; remains of mounting point to reverse and 'Chat 306. coucheg?' in handwriting. Cf. The Portable Antiquities Scheme Database, id. NLM-BE9FE3, for similar, dated to 1500-1650 AD. 28.5 grams, 40mm (1 1/2"). From the private collection of a medical professional; formerly in the private collection of Prof Joseph Laissus (1900-1969), a professor of metallography and president of the French Society of Jules Vernes.
