Description
Lot of approx. 30 items, most relating to Montana State College/Bozeman during the 1920s. Included are announcements for exhibitions of paintings, live performances, Commencement, etc. This collection also includes a small, hardcover Student Handbook for Montana State College of Agriculture and Mechanical Arts, 1909-1910 school year. Montana became a state on 8 November 1889. Several cities competed intensely to be the state capital, the city of Bozeman among them. In time, the city of Helena was named the state capital. As a consolation, the state legislature agreed to put the state's land-grant college in Bozeman. Montana State University was founded in 1893 as the Agricultural College of the State of Montana and later became MSCAMA. By the 1920s it was simply referred to as Montana State College. The institution officially changed to Montana State University in 1965.Date: Country (if not USA): State: MontanaCity: BozemanProvenance: Stuart Mackenzie Montana Ephemera Collection
