The Moravian Church operated a private academy for boys in Nazareth, Pennsylvania from 1743-1929. Originally founded to provide a rigorous and well rounded education for the sons of Moravian clergy, by 1785 it accepted boys from the community. Nazareth Hall provided a classical curriculum as well as vocational training and religious instruction. During the Civil War, Nazareth Hall introduced military drills and emphasized physical education. By the time of its closure in 1929 it was considered a military academy. In 1755, the impressive manor house Nazareth Hall was constructed on Zizendorf Square and is the centerpiece of The Nazareth Hall Tract or complex. The Tract is on the National Register of Historic Places.
