George HW Bush TLS Re: Taxes & Spending
BUSH, GEORGE H. W. Typed Letter Signed, “George”, as vice president, 1p, on his personal letterhead, 6.5” x 9”, n.p., December 2, 1987. Fine condition.
Bush’s letter to J. Knox McConnell, the president of the First National Bank of Keystone, in full, "I just want to acknowledge your first Monthly Report. I am already moving on some of the issues. Catastrophic insurance is important, and I hope we will get a reasonable bill signed before the next President is elected. / I agree with you on taxes. The problem is spending, not taxes. / I still feel that literacy is an important question for our nation. We must do better. I know we don't disagree on the cause, but perhaps we disagree on whether it makes sense politically to talk about it as much as I am. / I won't reply to every category, but I just wanted you to know that I read the whole piece with keen interest."
