This Original Watercolor on Arches Paper measures 21” H x 28 ¾” W sight and is titled, “On a Green Broke Company“. The painting is signed lower right James Boren© 1977 and his cattle brand. The artist is James Boren (1921-1990). The beautifully executed watercolor depicts a company of cowboys in western attire on horseback around a campfire and wagon. The midground has one cowboy struggling with his horse and another standing near him ready to help. The background is a plain full of various flora and grey stratus clouds in the grey blue sky. The foreground is a wild flower and grass field grass. The artist uses light and tone to create wonderful sense of depth. The painting is indicative of the artist style and media preferred by him. Frame is a 3” scoop wood with pale gold insert and 7/8” linen liner with gold insert with 2 1/8” hand-painted mat with ¼ gold foil inner mat under regular glass. The linen liner has water damage and the mats have discolored due to acidification of the paper and the frame is in good condition for its age.
