This Hand Colored Print on Handmade Paper measures 12 1/2”H x 20” W sight and is titled, “The Goal”. The print is hand signed Paul Brown in the lower right and plate signed lower left. The artist is Paul Brown (1893-1958). One of a set of four hand-colored intaglio aquatint American Polo Scene titled ‘The Save’, ‘The Goal’, ‘On the Boards’ and ‘Down the Field’. Only 175 signed proofs were produced of each print. Titles engraved in the same style as other sets of American Sporting scenes published by The Derrydale Press, New York, 1930. The piece is framed in 5/8” wood half round finished in antique gold leaf with 2 ¼” hand painted French non acid free mats in crème and pastel green under reflection control glass. The print and frame are in good condition for their age.
