Catalog Note:
Why a Nichols attribution? Simply put, if a piece looks like Maria's work and is not signed by anyone else, then the nod goes to her. Many Rookwood decorators copied Nichols' work, but all who did signed their pieces. Only the boss would be allowed to avoid a small fine for not signing pieces. Besides, this looks like Maria's work and there is a diagonal band of semicircles with raised dots in the center that seems like something she would add.
Condition
Uncrazed and very clean.
