While Hurley personally pulled all of his prints, a small percentage were signed posthumously by his daughter, Joan Hurley O'Brien. Those are carefully inscribed in the margin, E.T. Hurley JHO.
The acronym A.N.A. designates that Hurley was an Associate of the National Academy of Design, the historic, member-nominated artistic organization founded in New York City in 1825 by Samuel Morse, Asher Durand, Thomas Cole, and others.
