Description
Matthew A. Daly (1860-1937) for Rookwood Pottery
earthenware Flowing Glaze vase with hyacinth decoration, shape number 915C
Cincinnati, Ohio, 1901
high glazed ceramic
impressed factory marks, incised artist's full signature
5 3/4"dia x 7"h
Catalog Note:
Flowing Glaze is a derivation of Rookwood's Iris glaze consisting of rich, opaque color, which tends to blend and flow over the decoration. It is an official Rookwood named glaze, which seems to have lasted from 1900 until 1901 and most examples are done by Daly. Given its short life span, it is safe to assume the glaze was not a commercial success.
