Pair of Victorian Sterling Silver Gilt "Bacchanalian" Dessert Serving Spoons, hallmarked London, 1884-1885, by Lias & Wakely, l. 9", 6.30 total t. oz.
Condition
Overall Condition: Good. No breaks or repairs noted. The gilding is rubbed throughout, particularly at the bowl undersides, the high points of relief and the edges. Some wear to the detail, mostly on the undersides where the pieces. No monograms/engravings or removal. Hallmarks (on the underside of the bowl): 1) the sterling lion passant; 2) the London leopard's head; 3) the date letter "I" for 1884-1885; 4) the maker's mark "HJL/JW", in a trefoil, for Henry John Lias and John Wakely; and 5) the Victoria's bust duty mark. Marks good with light wear, but all completely clear and legible.
