DESCRIPTION: Fine original watercolor by listed artist and illustrator Hugh Laidman. The work is one of six by the artist we are selling from a series done at the 1967 South African Formula One Grand Prix race. It shows two of the cars on the track with a haze of white smoke behind. It has an original label titling it "Oil On The Track." It also shows a great view of the grandstand as well as the vast crowd on the ground. Laidman began his artistic career as a one of the first combat artists in the US Marine Corps. After WWII he became a well known illustrator who did dozens of covers for many major magazines and also had a popular nationally syndicated cartoon strip.
