Unusual Meissen Porcelain Figure, 19th c., of a sleeping classical soldier, perhaps Ulysses, resting on a ruined obelisk, his armor next to him, old repairs, H.- 18 1/4 in., W.- 10 1/2 in., D.- 7 1/2 in.
Item is in as found condition. Yellowing to surface consistent with discolored early repair. Mostly present on hands, drapery and point of spire. Minor loss to leaves at top of spire as well. Very minor peeling around neckline of garment and scratches to surface on headless figure. Very minor fleabite chip to shoulder of seated figure. Please see additional photos. Note: though yellowing is often a sign of early repair, there is no crack or break visible and the yellow surface (presumably a varnish) flakes off. A truly excellent example. ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD “AS IS.” NO STATEMENT REGARDING CONDITION OF ANY ITEM, WHETHER IT IS MADE ORALLY AT THE AUCTION OR ANY OTHER TIME, OR IN WRITING IN THE CATALOGUE OR ELSEWHERE, SHALL BE DEEMED TO BE A WARRANTY, REPRESENTATION, OR ASSUMPTION OF LIABILITY.
