Condition
The painting is on a stable, uncradled panel. The surface is dirty and there are some visible accretions on the surface, and the varnish has discolored yellow. There is frame abrasion evident along the edges. There is craquelure evident in areas throughout the composition, most noticeable in the foreground below the woman's dress and in the grasses. The gentleman standing in the black waistcoat jacket seems to be slightly abraded or thinly painted. Under UV, some of the accretions fluoresce, but they are not thought to be restoration. There are some minor areas of restoration in the foreground, addressing the craquelure, but these are difficult to say for certainty because of the opaque varnish.
