A GROUP OF THREE ANTEBELLUM AND RECONSTRUCTION ERA PRINTS, LOUISIANA SLAVE MARKET AND ILLUSTRATED IMAGERY, 1842-1880, comprising three printed page fragments, from smallest to largest, "SALE OF ESTATES, PICTURES AND SLAVES IN THE ROTUNDA, NEW ORLEANS," circa 1842, London and Paris, lithograph on wove paper, printed by J.M. Starling, plate artist, William Henry Brooke (British 1772-1860), a scene of luxury goods and human trafficking in the lobby of the St. Louis Hotel of New Orleans, 5 3/4" x 8 3/4"; "La Rotonde," 1872-1880, hand colored lithograph on paper, a fragment from Le Tour du Monde, a travel journal, in the margin, "Dessin de Valnay, d'après un document américain.," signed in plate by plate preparer, "Valnay," and "Barbant," Charles Barbant (French 1844-1920), the engraver, verso publication title Le Tour du Monde and text regarding Caesar C. Antoine and his election as Lieutenant Governor in 1872 on the Republican ticket with William Pitt Kellogg, 11" x 8"; and an Every Saturday publicatinewsprint fragment with scenes of labor and misfortune, "Moss-Gatherers, Near Baton Rouge," and "Old Uncle Dominique is Complete Broke Down," by Alfred Rudolph Waud (American 1828-1891), periodical correspondent and illustrator, signed in plate in monogram, "A.R.W.," 14 1/2" x 10 1/2" Provenance: Private Document Collection, Rochester, New York
