Description
A LOUIS XVI STYLE BLUE VELVET UPHOLSTERED AND CARVED GILTWOOD CHAISE, LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY, finely carved and with corner wilting marguerites flanking a rectangular curved crestrail of ribbon-and-rod trimmed in continuous beading above a guilloché band, ending over scrolls suspending tapering floral blooms on leaf tip detailed channels terminating with acanthus leaf pendants, enclosing a conforming padded back and trapezoidal seat covered in a dusty light blue velvet, trimmed in silk passementerie of pale blue swags suspending blue and white tassels, over a seat rail raised on tapering stop fluted legs ending in toupie feet. Condition
The chair frame in good to very good condition with normal gilding wear, small chips, and surface scratches. The upholstery is soiled, dry rotted in areas, has cut out square patch, ring marks, and general wear, tasseled swags are in good condition with some loose threads and dust.
