[NATIVE AMERICANS]. BONINE, E.A. (1843-1916), photographer. A group of 5 boudoir photographs of Yuma Indians. Yuma, Arizona and Los Angeles, California: [1880s]. Â
Boudoir card portrait of a Yuma warrior standing in a studio setting, his face and legs painted (some surface spotting to image; mount verso with some some surface loss near edges). Bonine's Yuma, Arizona imprint on mount recto.
[With:] 4 boudoir cards with Bonine's Los Angeles, California, imprint on mount recto and/or verso (rich tonality overall; some corner and edge wear to mounts). Subjects include three young men posed with bows and arrows, with verso ink inscription reading, "Presented by Mrs. & E. Davis / Yuma Apaches / 1888." -- Two women in long skirts and shirts. -- Two topless women in traditional garb, holding a basket between them. -- One boy with body paint and traditional garb. Three of the cards are marked, "Yuma Indians; Arizona," as part of the series, "Views of Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley," with numbers written in the negative.
Together, 5 boudoir cards, 4 1/4 x 7 1/8 in. or smaller, on cardstock mounts. Â
