PENNSYLVANIA FOLK ART CARVED AND PAINTED CHILD'S BENCH / FOOT STOOL, pine and poplar, in the tramp art style with applied floral devices and stacked elements, marked "BABY / HOWARD / MILTON". Retains its original polychrome painted surface. Circa 1925. 7" H, 14 1/4" L, 10" D.
Provenance: The Important American Folk Art Collection of Jan and Watt White.
Catalogue Note: The present bench/stool was likely made by Alfred Milton (1887-1971) of Philadelphia, for his infant son Howard William Milton (1923-1996). Alfred was listed as a painter in the 1940 US Federal Census.
