Terracotta Dini e Cellai bust of 16thc maiden, c1880
Maiden: 14"W x 6.5"D x 14.5"H
Base: 14"W x 8.5"D x 3.5"H
Polychrome decoration with gilt highlights, stamped signature seals of Terre Cotte and Signa Dini and Cellai inside the hollow bust and on base. The piece is possibly based on a marble sculpture by Renaissance artist Francesco Laurana-- who made a series of sculptures depicting the princesses of the House of Aragon.
