At the 1st New Art Exhibition in Cracow (1948/49), Nowosielski presented works based on geometric abstraction. In the socrealism period, he focused on church decorations, staying away from communist exhibition halls. In the late 1950s he established his famous style influenced by sacral art, mostly by the Eastern Orthodox Church. In 1976 he turned to monumental projects like Calvary stops and stained glasses designs in numerous churches. As an important Polish post-war artist, he is recognized especially for transferring sacral values into Polish modern art.
