Three Piece Dress Belt and Hat Designed by Lilly Dache. Three piece ensemble of dress, belt and hat. Hat label Lilly Dache Paris New York 78 EAST 56th STREET, NY. Green rayon jersey pleated long sleeved dress with mercerized cotton ochre, brown and pink crochet inserts to neck, down sleeves, and sleeve and skirt hems. Woven felted wool hat with green, ochre and pink stripes, embroidered with gilt thread scrolls. An ensemble for day or cocktails. Circa 1940. Lilly Dache (American, C. 1892-1989). Good, the dress; with a 1 inch long scratch to lower front bodice and two tiny holes from that, probably a pin scratch. Hat in very good condition with no visible flaws. Note: At the height of her popularity as an American milliner, Lilly Dache acquired the building off of 5th Avenue, known as the House of Hats.
